K.C. Thirumaran is a 52-year-old businessman and politician representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Tiruppattur Assembly constituency of Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu. A B.Sc. graduate in Pharmacy, he resides in Arasaradi, Madurai. Thirumaran's political journey began in 2009 when he founded the South Indian Forward Bloc, before strategically moving to the BJP in the late 2010s/early 2020s as part of the party's expansion efforts in South India. His candidacy represents the BJP's ambition to break into traditionally Dravidian party-dominated regions. However, Thirumaran's profile is significantly complicated by serious legal issues. His affidavit declares 10 criminal cases with 4 involving serious IPC charges including attempt to murder (§307), voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons (§324), rioting armed with deadly weapons (§148), and assault on public servants (§353).
