Sathya B., a 48-year-old graduate from Tirunelveli, contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as a Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) candidate. Despite declaring her profession as 'housewife,' she ran an active political campaign that secured 87,686 votes (8.21% vote share), finishing behind Indian National Congress candidate Robert Bruce who won with 502,296 votes (47.06%). Her candidacy reflects NTK's expanding political footprint in Tamil Nadu under founder Seeman's leadership, with the party's vote share growing from 1.76% in 2016 Assembly elections to 8.19% in 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Her financial disclosures show assets of Rs. 1.58 crore (entirely movable with no immovable property) and liabilities of Rs. 35 lakhs. However, web sources report different figures of Rs. 97.3 lakhs for the same election period, raising transparency concerns. More significantly, she faces 4 criminal cases including serious charges under IPC sections 353 (assault on public servant), 170 (bribery), 171C (undue influence at elections), and 270 (spreading dangerous disease), alongside charges related to unlawful assembly and disobedience of public orders.
