Sathish Raju Alias K.P.R. Sathish

Sathish Raju, also known as KPR Sathish, is a 44-year-old postgraduate businessman from Thondamuthur in Coimbatore district, now contesting his first election as a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate. Coming from a middle-class Iyyer family with limited formal education, he worked part-time jobs to support his family before joining the renowned Crazy Mohan's theatre troupe in 2001 at age 14, where he performed in dramas for many years and earned recognition from celebrities like Kamal Haasan. He married Sindhu in December 2019 and they have a daughter. Sathish has declared assets worth Rs. 3.47 crores (movable assets of Rs. 2.17 crores and immovable assets of Rs. 1.30 crores) with liabilities of Rs. 85.43 lakhs. His constituency, Thondamuthur, has traditionally been an AIADMK stronghold, with S.P. Velumani winning in both 2016 and 2021 with vote shares above 53%. He is contesting on a TVK ticket, a party founded by actor Vijay in February 2024 that plans to contest all 234 seats in the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections as a third front alternative to DMK and AIADMK. While no specific controversies or legal issues are associated with Sathish personally, his party TVK faced severe criticism following a tragic crowd crush at a rally in Karur in September 2025 that killed 41 people and injured over 100, with police filing FIRs against party leadership for ignoring safety protocols. As a first-time candidate from a brand new party, Sathish faces the dual challenge of establishing his individual credibility while navigating public skepticism about TVK's organizational capacity and ideological clarity beyond its founder's celebrity appeal.
