D. Elangovan, 44, is a photographer by profession contesting from the Manamadurai (SC) constituency in Sivaganga district on a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) ticket. As a graduate with declared assets of Rs. 12.14 lakhs (all movable) and liabilities of Rs. 14.48 lakhs, Elangovan represents the new wave of candidates entering politics through TVK, the party founded by actor Vijay on February 2, 2024. His candidacy comes at a time when TVK is making its electoral debut in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, contesting all 234 seats independently.
