I.P. Senthilkumar, 47, is a two-term DMK legislator and the son of Tamil Nadu Minister I. Periyasamy. Born on October 30, 1977, in Batlagundu, Dindigul, he completed his law degree from Salem Law College and entered politics through the DMK youth wing. He served as District Youth Wing Deputy Secretary for Dindigul and later State Youth Wing Deputy Secretary before winning his first MLA seat from Palani constituency in 2016 with 50.66% votes, defeating AIADMK's P. Kumarasamy. He retained the seat in 2021 with an improved 52.86% vote share against AIADMK's K. Ravi Manoharan.
