Kumar R, 60, is a first-time candidate contesting from Velachery constituency in Chennai on behalf of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), a new political party founded by actor Vijay on February 2, 2024. A graduate professional who declares his profession as 'Business, Land Lord,' Kumar has declared total assets worth Rs. 117.83 crore (including movable assets of Rs. 15.87 crore and immovable assets of Rs. 101.95 crore), making him one of the wealthier candidates in the constituency. His affidavit shows liabilities of Rs. 1.59 crore and declares zero criminal cases. Despite substantial declared wealth, there is no public record of Kumar's business ventures, corporate affiliations, or prior public service—an unusual absence for someone with such significant assets. Kumar is contesting from Velachery, a constituency that has historically been competitive between DMK and AIADMK. In 2021, INC's J.M.H.
