Rani, 54, is a housewife and AIADMK candidate contesting from the Vandavasi (SC) reserved constituency in Tamil Nadu. With 5th standard education, she represents a grassroots connection to voters in this constituency. Her political career with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam spans over a decade, having contested elections in both 2011 and 2016 from the same constituency. She has declared assets worth Rs. 73.03 lakhs with no liabilities or criminal cases. Her electoral journey shows mixed results. In 2011, Rani achieved her best performance, securing 84,529 votes (52.05%), though she lost to DMK's J. Kamalakkannan who received 44.48%. However, her 2016 attempt saw a sharp decline in support, with her vote share dropping to just 34.24% (62,138 votes), losing again to DMK's S. Ambethkumar who secured 44.20%. This significant 18-point decline in vote share between elections represents a loss of over 22,000 votes. She did not contest the 2021 assembly elections. Rani has remained loyal to the AIADMK throughout her political career with no recorded party switches. She is now attempting a political comeback in 2026 as the AIADMK candidate, as her party is part of the NDA alliance and positioning itself as the main opposition to the ruling DMK government.
