N Elaiyaraja, 47, is a practicing dentist contesting from Uthangarai (SC) constituency in Tamil Nadu on a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) ticket. He holds a graduate professional degree and has declared assets worth Rs 2.47 crore with liabilities of Rs 1.42 crore. Despite being a TVK candidate, Elaiyaraja has virtually no public profile—multiple web searches found no biographical information, past political activity, or media coverage specifically about him. The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam itself is a nascent political force, founded by popular Tamil actor Vijay in February 2024. This is the party's first electoral contest, and it enters the race with ambitious promises including monthly financial assistance for homemakers (Rs 2,500), unemployed graduates (Rs 4,000), interest-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh for women, 200 units of free electricity per household, and AI-driven governance initiatives. The party has also promised 50% debt relief for farmers and six free LPG cylinders annually for households. However, TVK's debut has been marred by tragedy. On September 27, 2025, a crowd crush at a Vijay political rally in Karur district killed 41 people and injured around 100 when crowds surged after a seven-hour delay in the leader's arrival. Three senior TVK organizers were charged with culpable homicide, and Vijay faced criticism for not visiting victims' families.
