Udhayakumar R, 40, is contesting from ULUNDURPETTAI constituency as a candidate of the All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnettra Kazhagam. His political career began with grassroots work when he served as Vice Chairman of the Town Panchayat in Nilakottai in 2006. He achieved significant electoral success in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections when, as an AIADMK candidate, he won the Dindigul parliamentary seat with an extraordinary margin of over 5.12 lakh votes, defeating DMK's Gandhirajan S.
