SubashR, 28, is a self-employed graduate contesting from the Sirkazhi (SC) constituency in Tamil Nadu on a Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) ticket. He represents a party that has been steadily gaining ground in Tamil Nadu politics, with NTK emerging as the third-largest political force in the state after securing 8.19% vote share in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, up from 6.72% in the 2021 assembly polls. The party, founded in 1958 and revived by Seeman in 2010, advocates for Tamil nationalism and positions itself as an alternative to the traditional Dravidian parties DMK and AIADMK. SubashR is contesting from Sirkazhi, a Scheduled Caste reserved constituency in Nagapattinam district with 239,469 registered electors. The constituency has been a DMK stronghold, with M. Panneerselvam winning in 2021. SubashR faces competition from candidates of MDMK, AIADMK, and TVK in what appears to be a multi-cornered contest. His candidacy is part of NTK's strategy to contest all 234 constituencies independently, avoiding alliances with larger parties to maintain their ideological purity.
