Alagaapuram R. Mohan Raj, 36, is a former Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly who represented Salem North constituency from 2011 to 2016. He won his first election in 2011 as a DMDK candidate with 88,956 votes (54.46%), defeating the Indian National Congress candidate by a significant margin.
