Thaarikha Salman, 27, is contesting the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections from Ranipet constituency on a Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) ticket. A graduate who identifies as a self-employed micro artist, she represents a new generation of NTK candidates in a party that has been steadily gaining ground in Tamil Nadu politics. Thaarikha's party, NTK, founded by former film director Seeman, has emerged as a significant force in Tamil Nadu, recognized as a state party by the Election Commission. The party's vote share jumped from 1.1% in 2016 to 6.72% in 2021, making it the third-largest party by votes in the state. Despite her candidacy, Thaarikha Salman has virtually no individual media presence or public profile. Her campaign appears to be riding primarily on the NTK brand, which has built its identity around Tamil nationalist politics and cultural advocacy.
