K. Annadurai, 68, is a three-time contestant and two-time winner in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections representing the DMK. A lawyer by profession with interests in agriculture and social work, he currently serves as the MLA for Pattukkottai constituency after winning the 2021 election with 79,065 votes and a margin of 25,269 votes over his AIADMK rival. His political career spans over three decades, with his first electoral victory coming in 1989 from Varahur constituency where he defeated the AIADMK candidate by 7,324 votes. Annadurai's electoral journey has seen both victories and defeats. After his 1989 win from Varahur, he contested from Pattukkottai in 1991 but lost to AIADMK's K. The BJP has leveled allegations including the TASMAC liquor scam worth Rs 1,000 crores and a cash-for-jobs scandal worth Rs 888 crores, though these relate to the broader government and not to Annadurai personally.
