Smt.Kavitha Kalyanasundaram

Kavitha Kalyanasundaram, 47, is a postgraduate and businesswoman contesting her first assembly election from Mettupalayam constituency on a DMK ticket as part of the Secular Progressive Alliance. She is married to SMT Kalyanasundaram, the secretary of DMK's Karamadai North union, which provides her key connections within the party establishment. Her business portfolio includes being a proprietor of K.K Finance and Investments, and directorships in Shri Masaniyamman Thunal Spinning Mills Private Limited and two chit fund companies, with declared assets totaling ₹59.27 crore. In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the DMK candidate lost Mettupalayam to AIADMK's O. K. Chinnaraj by just 2,456 votes, receiving 102,775 votes (45.66%). Kavitha is now attempting to reclaim this seat for DMK in a constituency that has historically favored AIADMK but has seen increasingly close contests.
