R.Manoharan

R. Manoharan is a 65-year-old veteran politician from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), currently contesting from Erode East constituency in Tamil Nadu. A graduate by education, Manoharan runs his own business and is involved in agriculture, having accumulated assets worth over Rs. 15.83 crores with liabilities of Rs. 3.92 crores. His political career includes a significant electoral victory in 2011 when he won from Tiruchirappalli East constituency with 83,046 votes (54.84%), defeating DMK's Anbil Periyasamy by a comfortable margin of 20,626 votes. During his tenure as MLA, Manoharan's political standing rose when he was appointed as the Chief Government Whip in February 2013, a key position in the legislative assembly responsible for maintaining party discipline and ensuring attendance during crucial votes. This appointment reflected the confidence placed in him by the AIADMK leadership during J. Jayalalithaa's government. However, his electoral fortunes changed in 2016 when he lost his seat, marking a setback in his political career.
