Over the past five years (2021-2026), Ariankuppam constituency saw mixed progress under AINRC's R. Baskar Datchanamourtty. Major infrastructure developments included a ₹4,500 crore ADB-funded project for roads and utilities (approved Oct 2024) and two SEZs worth ₹3,750 crore (approved 2026). The constituency also benefited from smart city elements like e-vehicles and tourist terminals (Sept 2023 plan). However, residents faced issues like the suspended Coast Guard port project (2023) and ongoing statehood demands. The BJP-AINRC coalition tensions and unfulfilled local development promises created dissatisfaction. While no major corruption cases were reported, voters experienced slow infrastructure progress and project delays. The 2026 elections will see AINRC's Aiyappan contest against NTK and TVK candidates.
